The man who paints in his mind
For André Djaoui, painting is a second nature. Very early, he admired de Staël, Kline, de Kooning, Poliakoff, Pignon, Hartüng, Atlan, Soulages, Rothko… artists who helped him to create his own alphabet.
One day, in a spirit of revolt, he decided to start painting with an insatiable appetit and a voracious energy.
Since then, forms and colours have flowed day and night, settling directly on the support, be it paper, cardboard, cellophane, anything that can give form and relief to colour.
Such cheerful flamboyance rapidly attracts the attention of those who appreciate the work of this adult beginner who feeds on the memory of thousand of paintings, on the uninterrupted movement of pictures and on the chromatic gestures which are so many messages directed at nature.
André Djaoui lives and works in Tel-Aviv.
